Alex was early to the commissary, mostly to see if he could talk about who else got tickets and how many. Still trying to figure out the system. He doesn't see how many tickets Travis has, but he sees the results...

One eyebrow raised, looking at it, then looking at Travis. Back to it, back to Travis. "Dude, do me a favor. If you're going to do anything sexual with that, do it away from the bunks alright?" Alex wasn't even sleeping in the bunks currently, but he didn't necessarily hold out hope he'd stay out of them.

“One,” Travis replies, raising a finger, “why the hell is everyone so into what I do with my wife? Bunch of fucking perverts.”

He raises another finger.

“Second… I’m not gonna rail her where any of you morons can hear it. She’s got class.”

(He has yet to discover she doesn’t have orifices.)

Alex chuckles at the responses. "You're the one who stated in a public chat thread that you pull it in the showers. I'm not putting anything past you at this point." But it's said with no malice or disdain. Alex is amused mostly. "You got a foam replica of your wife?"

“Yeah, and I was fucking joking around,” Travis retorts, even though he was at least a little serious. Look, sometimes comedy is just little raw honesty with the right timing. He’s also convinced a bunch of weirdo stressed dudes in community bunks are all getting their alone time somewhere.

He adds: “And yeah. I did. What did you get?”

"Haven't decided yet. Debating between nicer pillows or nicer blankets." Alex is very simple that way. "You have a wife?" Still with genuine curiosity in his voice. No hostility, Alex just wants to know.

Travis has never given thought to the quality of pillows or blankets in his life. He just gives a considering nod.

"Get the blankets. And yeah. Got married three years ago." Has it been that long? He frowns. "Coming up on four."

"That's what I was thinking. I can use 'em as extra pillows if needed." It was such a stupidly mundane thing for them to talk about. "Congrats I think. What's she like?" Since well, Alex could see what she looked like, at least.

There are two ways Travis talks about his wife. One way is the high road, the other is the low road. One is for bragging, and the other is for driving home what a piece of fucking work she is. What she's like feels like an impossible question. Who the hell has ever asked that question?

"Why is that an 'I think'?" he asks instead.

"Cuz I'm kind of surprised you're married? But if it works for you." Alex responded easily enough.

Travis laughs, though he's not entirely kind about it.

"Gee, thanks. What guy doesn't want to hear 'if it works for you'?"

"Look, I'm glad it works for you alright? You clearly must be missing her if you got a replica of her." Alex said, mildly exasperated. "So what's she like?"

He looks at the doll in his arms, and though she is very obviously just cleverly pigmented chemical soup whipped up into a human form, he almost wishes she'd turn her head and look at him and answer the question herself. Spare him the thought.

Travis shrugs, his expression veering hard.

"She's spoiled and selfish, and she's a pain in the ass," he says. "But why wouldn't I miss her? Look at her. She's a babe."

"That all that draws you?" Not critical, Alex is honestly curious. In looks alone, she was indeed a babe.

"No," Travis replies, and without a trace of self-consciousness, he says: "Our souls are the same."

Alex just uttered a soft "huh". Then shrugged. "Good for you then, man."
